Dark Ambitions by Irene Hannon

Book review of Dark Ambitions by Irene Hannon (Revell) by papertapepins

Danger lurks when ambitions turn deadly . . .

Former Army Night Stalker Rick Jordan usually has his camp for foster children to himself during the winter months. But someone has visited recently--leaving a trail of blood. One of the two clues left behind tips Rick off to the identity of his visitor, who soon turns up dead. The police deem it an accident, but Rick isn't convinced.

With the help of private investigator Heather Shields, he sets out to decipher the remaining clue. Except someone doesn't want them to succeed--and will stop at nothing to keep them from finding the truth.'

Dark Ambitions is the third book in the Code of Honor series, featuring 3 friends who have been close since middle school. This is Rick's story, but of course Colin and Kristin are back again as well. The fact that the 3 of them meet for breakfast every other Saturday no matter what, and even once a couple of them are married, not including their spouses is a bit strange. That's really my only beef with the story though. The rest of the time it's high speed suspense or zinging romantic tension.

Heather Shields has joined Connor and Dev at the PI Firm (we met them in the Private Justice Series). Rick hires her to find the person he believes was on his property and left a trail of clues. It may be a former army buddy in need of help.

Irene Hannon is a master at romantic suspense, but each book is so different from the last. I always look forward to reading her latest release!
