How to cut a perfect star from a piece of paper with one cut!

This was our 'art project' this morning. Cutting out stars first of all because it's a pretty cool trick to know, and second of all to decorate and hang in the kids room. Oh, and the third reason I picked this is that all it takes is scissors, paper, and maybe some markers or glitter glue. :)

Origami with Post-It Notes

Sometimes you just need a quick and easy creative escape, and this was what I chose the other night. 

I followed the tutorial for an origami post it box from Instructables. Actually, that's where I got the idea to use the post it notes. I love making mini origami, especially if it's not too complicated. 

These arrows are from a tutorial from How About Orange. Have you ever seen this blog? She has a lot of really neat paper and origami tutorials.

I am considering making a whole bunch of origami butterflies in different sizes and putting them up in my 1 year old's room -- but I haven't figured out how to stick them up yet. They wouldn't be post it notes, but it's the same tutorial from go origami.

You might not have origami paper at hand but I bet you've got post it notes somewhere. Give it a try, and see if it's not addicting. I dare ya. :)

Pretty Paper Flowers from Martha Stewart

These flowers were super easy to make. They are from the Martha Stewart website. I think I like them better with the magazine pages to add interest instead of ordinary coloured paper. You should give them a try!

I needed a birthday gift for a friend, and I wanted to make her some flowers - but I had no paper. . . and then I remembered a couple magazines that were just too pretty to throw away. This was the first non digitally designed card I've made in quite a while.

The first flower I made was the peony on the front of the card, and I decided to try it huge. They take a while to make because of all the layers but they are really easy. I needed a fast and easy flower so I went with origami tulips.

The diagrams I used are in chinese but google translate is a wonderful thing. You can check out Eagle's Origami Teaching Diagrams here.

Happy Birthday Pop Up Card

I made this card for my Mother in law's birthday. It's from Canon Creative Park, and it's the first pop up card I've attempted. I think I'm hooked!

Bouquet of Fuchsia Flowers

Nothing too exciting today, I just wanted to show you the bouquet I made from the fuchsia flower I showed you earlier. It turned out better than expected. I took it to a friend, and so its final destination was in a vase with glass stones. It's cheery for the middle of winter and they are easy flowers to make.

Papercraft Clock - Learning To Tell Time

I made this for DD to help her to learn time. This wasn't that easy to put together after all. I modified it a bit with the metal brads so that the hands will spin nicely.

Paper Flower Bouquet

So if you're wondering what this blog is about, it's where I'm posting the crafts I make, with this or that thrown in here and there. It's mostly for the mother, the sister, the mother in law and the couple of friends who don't live nearby since I'm not on Facebook. {gasp}

This is a paper flower bouquet I made for my mother in law. Canon Creative Park has quite a few flowers to choose from, and they've just added new ones. It's nice that it's not dead in a week! My favourite flower is the daisy you can just barely see in the above picture.

Ha ha! The DD just dumped a bucket of cold water on herself as she got in the shower. Gotta go!

Pretty Fuchsia Flower

This pretty flower is originally by the people at HP printers, but I found it via PaperCraft Museum. It's quick and easy to assemble. I love the colour.

Bubblefriends Paper Totem

I stumbled across Dolly Oblong the other day and had to make this trio by Bubblefriends. They're adorable! They're adding some colour back to the mantle now that the Christmas decorations are down.
